Uber is a leading ridesharing and food delivery technology company which connects driver partners and riders around the world.
Uber Australia were initially occupying two floors, on levels 29 and 30 at 580 George Street, Sydney. Due to its rapid and unprecedented growth in the past 8 months, the decision was made to take an additional floor on level 31, to cater for the growth of the business in the Australian market. Intact Projects were engaged as a Head Contractor to deliver UBER’s expanding facility.
Intact worked closely with Montlaur, Siren Design and Aston Consulting to successfully deliver the project within a collaborative working environment.
The main challenge for the project team was to expand the interconnecting stair up to level 31. The stair works were on the critical path of the program and were required to be carried out at night due to the sensitive live environment. In addition, it was also incumbent on Intact to ensure that the stairs, including the penetration and glazed enclosure, were delivered safely and the required stair pressurisation was maintained.
Intact Projects were responsible for chairing high level design workshops with contractors, project designers, consultants and client project manager to ensure the design intent was upheld through the shop drawing review and approval process and translated to the new build environment.
Being a fine example of a modern workplace environment, the activity based fit out project has successfully met the growth needs of the progressive UBER business. The project included for the following features: Interconnecting stairs, New breakout space to level 30, Wellness room.
